My friend Abby asked if I could help her out with her Cyndi Lauper style for this promotional video. Co-director Jessica was the stylist, I was more like Abby’s Fairy God-Sister called upon for the operation. I arrived at her house carrying a suitcase (thanks Chloe!) full of leopard print, rainbows and shimmer, and led a round of dress-up in exchange for a home-cooked meal.

I couldn’t be around for shooting so it was pretty RaDiCaL to see the video a few days later, watching my favorite blue-gray leather jacket & throwback white sunglasses live out their true 80s destiny on the streets of Bloomington. In the beginning of the video, the apartment they drive past is right by my friends Brittany & Ali’s old place, where indeed there was almost always both girls and fun. No babies though.

Bloomington Area Birth Services provides support for local mothers & mothers-to-be. Their annual fundraiser is Jan 26, 2013. Visit them here and RSVP to the event here.

Abby Noroozi and her family are the kind of people you want good things to happen to. They founded and run the Green Nursery, selling alternative products for babies & toddlers. Their website is here or find them on Facebook. This year they moved to Hillside & Henderson, next to Mira and the best restaurant in the world, FEAST!

…And here’s Cyndi’s original video, so you can do a proper compare/contrast and write your Post-Feminism-In-80s-Media thesis on it:
